Description

This interactive exhibit showcases President Wilson's role in promoting modern scientific discovery and innovative technology during his presidency from 1913-1921. Listen to Wilson's speeches on a period telephone, see vintage films of inventions at work, make a speech over a period radio set during the "You Be The President" experience, listen to a Victrola play records of the era, and explore "Decode Wilson" where you can decode a message written in President Wilson's shorthand and discover the hidden message online.

The exhibit will use multimedia content and authentic artifacts to highlight the changes in science and technology through the eyes of the Wilson family while he was president. It will also examine the advances that occurred throughout Wilson's life and describe how these changes influenced the country and continues to do so today.

The "Woodrow Wilson, President Electric: Harnessing the Power of Innovation in the Progressive Era" exhibition is one of several changing exhibits that will be at the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum during 2012-2021 as part of the Wilson 100 campaign celebrating the 100th anniversary of President Wilson's presidency.
