Residence and Gravesite  

Located 16 miles south of Washington, D.C., Mount Vernon was home to George and Martha Washington for 40 years, from their marriage in 1749 until Washington's death in 1799.  It is maintained by the Mount Vernon Ladies Association, who purchased the property in 1858 from the Washington family.  Five hundred of the original 2,000 acres of the plantation are preserved.  Today, the site includes the mansion, dozens of outbuildings, gardens, an 18th-century period working farm, museum and Washington's tomb.  The most popular historic house in America, Mount Vernon welcomes more than one million visitors each year. Open to the Public.

Arlington National Cemetery
Gravesite

President Taft's grave is located in Arlington National Cemetery, a 612-acre cemetery across the Potomac River from Washington, D.C.  The grave is marked by a 14.5 feet tall granite stone.  He is buried with his wife Helen Harron Taft, who died in 1943. Open to the public.

The Kennedy Memorial Grave is the most visited gravesite at Arlington National Cemetery.  The grave is marked by an eternal flame. Open to the public.
