Your ticket to the Presidential Library includes a guided tour of the historic house where Wilson was born and a self-guided tour of the Museum. Please allow two hours to view all of the galleries and exhibits.

In the Birthplace, you will:

  • Hear about the Wilson family and their life in Staunton

  • Learn about the enslaved who worked in the Wilson household

  • Visit the bedroom where Wilson stayed on his return to Staunton after being elected President of the United States.

In the Museum, you will

  • Explore seven galleries dedicated to the life and times of Woodrow Wilson. Learn more about his presidency and its many issues, including women’s suffrage, domestic reform, segregation, and World War I.

  • Visit the Immersive Trench Exhibit

  • See Wilson’s Pierce-Arrow Presidential Limousine, the oldest presidential limousine still running today.

Tickets include a self-guided tour of the museum, including the interactive World
War I Trench exhibit and the Pierce-Arrow limousine, and a guided tour of the Manse/birthplace. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are likely to sell out early, especially on weekends, so please arrive 15 minutes before your preferred tour time.

After purchasing your ticket, you may visit the museum at your leisure during regular opening hours. When purchasing your ticket, you will be assigned to the next available guided tour of the Birthplace.

Behind The Scenes - Private Tours

Join us for a wonderful opportunity to take a peek behind the scenes of our museum and library.

After a guided tour of Woodrow Wilson's birthplace, guests will have the opportunity to meet with a member of the curatorial or archives staff to see documents and artifacts in our collection that are rarely on display. This private tour also includes a self-guided museum tour.

The admission fee for this private experience is $200 and covers one group of up to four guests. An additional charge of $50 per person will be added to groups over four. Most tours run approximately three hours, including the self-guided portion of the tour.  Sorry, but no discounts or special offers may be applied to this particular tour.

Behind-the-scenes tours are available by reservation only and should be booked at least one week in advance. Tours are offered Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Slavery in Wilson’s Birthplace

Join a special guided tour focusing on the experiences of the enslaved people who lived and labored in the Presbyterian Manse where Woodrow Wilson was born. 

Admission is $25 per person. Your ticket also includes a self-guided tour of the museum, which includes the WWI trench exhibit and the Pierce-Arrow limousine. Sorry, but no discounts or special offers may be applied to this particular tour.

These tours are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:30 PM. Tickets may be purchased in our gift shop upon arrival. Please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early if you wish to take this tour.
